Just like the Mother’s Day cards, the current events in the world made it very difficult to go and browse for something nice for my grandma’s birthday. Although, I do find that there is no better gift than something that has been made with love.

For Christmas (2020), I got ‘Crochted home’ by Kate Eastwood, which full of lovely crochet patterns to make a variety of things, from blankets and cushions to storage baskets and coasters. For this project, it was recommended that D.M.C Natura just cotton medium was used. I chose to complete this in white and grey.

I chose this little lidded basket for my grandma, as I thought it would be a nice little addition to her bedroom or living room, to store little bits and bobs in, as well as it being nice to some other little presents in for her.

It was a nice easy pattern to follow, and it was the first time I have crocheted with 2 strands of yarn at once. This has given it a sturdy feel and allows the basket to keep its shape. As for the ribbon on the lid, they used wide ribbon, but I had some ‘handmade with love ribbon’, so thought that would be a nice, personal touch.
