Ava the Lady bird is an adventurous lady, and loves travelling to new places. She was created as part of TOFT’s summer photography competition. She was to be photographed in our happy places. I must say, I have too many happy places, and 90% of them are in Devon.
Normally, I would post a photo of my creation from home, however, Ava has travelled around Devon with my in the summer of 2022.

The Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary!

Out of all of my happy places, this one tops them all!!
When my dream comes true to move, work and retire down in Sidmouth, the plan is volunteer here!
Every visit to Devon is not complete without a visit to the donkeys and to see my adoption donkey, Timothy (featured in photo 1) and his best friend, Walter (also featured in photo 1). The walks around the site are fabulous, the location is a dream and, as photo 3 says, it really is #BlissfulHappiness ❤❤
I could honestly sit on a bench and watch them all day, every day!
When I’m not there, I’m always connected to Timothy through newsletters and updates! I do miss him when I’m up north.

Sidmouth!

I absolutely love this place, and one day, I dream of moving down there to teach and then retire by the sea!
Whilst here on holiday, we always play pitch and putt. I may not be good at it, but it will always be something I have to do when I visit Sidmouth. From my early childhood, my dad has always helped me learn the ropes of the game, and how to control the ball. 20 years later, I am use what he taught me, to experience the joyous feeling of getting a hole in one.
Walks along the beach blow away the cobwebs, and the sound of the sea calms my mind. Not to mention many happy memories of paddling, swimming and throwing in pebbles (or peb pebs as we call them) and laughs of when we have slipped on seaweed and lost our balance walking on the pebbles. In fact, this week, I was like Bambi on ice, and my foot got stuck in the sand, resulting my flip flop breaking.
Finally, the views from around Sidmouth can take your breath away, and the coastal walks allow you to see the beauty of this seaside town! This will ALWAYS be one of my happy places, and I truly hope my dream comes true!

Pecorama, Beer!

This is a place I have always visited whilst on holiday in Devon. So many memories have been created here: riding the little Railway from Much Natter platform, walking around the beautiful gardens (or getting lost in the beautiful gardens when I was much younger), and playing rounds of crazy golf. No matter how old I get, I will always love this place – nothing has ever changed, and I hope it never does. The views across Beer never get old, no matter what the weather.
Here, you will see Ava driving and riding on a model train, helping make model railways, assisting a train driver on the Beer Heights Light Railway, before then meeting TV and Radio star, Judi Spiers.

Go Ape!

Here, you will see myself photo bombing Ava whilst I land the zip wire, along with Ava making friends with the chief Ape!
I love Go Ape. It is always a challenge I will accept.
