Benidorm is another place I would never have thought I would go. I’ve watched the TV series, and didn’t think it looked a nice place. I went the day after graduation, with 2 of house mates from university. I was nervous about going.
It is a lot nicer than it looks on the TV series. I was told it was the Blackpool of Spain, but I have never been to Blackpool, so I couldn’t compare.
We walked around Benidorm and spent some time around the pool – it was warm weather. But I wanted to tour around, and see some of the sites, so on our last day, I decided to go on my own and see the sites. This did involved walking up a large hill, in the Benidorm heat – big mistake, but worth it when I got to the top. It was La Cruz de Benidorm.
After this, I went to a bar and had an ice cold Fanta Lemon (I don’t understand the craze about it) but it was very refreshing. From here, I walked along the beach towards the Balcon de Mediterraneo. This let you get lovely views of the sea and city, as well as get the sea breeze to cool (which was bliss).
My final tourist destination I wanted to see, was of course, where the TV series was filmed. I managed to find the hotel it was filmed in. But, sadly, I didn’t find the Benidorm Palace.
I would visit here again, and see many more of the beautiful sites of this place, as well as try more of the local cuisine.
